The French composer Darius Milhaud wrote prolifically and skilfully. In addition to having been a member of the French avant-garde group 'Les Six', he absorbed jazz influences after spending some time in America and managed to combine the two into his distinctive signature style. This Concerto for Cello No.2 was written in 1945 and is longer than its 1934 predecessor, having an approximate duration of 20 minutes.
